The Neurosciences and Cognition Doctoral School (ED 476 – NSCo) is one of only two doctoral schools in France solely dedicated to studying the brain and its functions. It gathers together the scientific community of Lyon specialized in the neurosciences, with a particular focus on the integrative and cognitive neurosciences. Its objective is to offer PhD students top-quality training by and for research and to assist them in best preparing their professional future..
Relying on the activities of 24 research teams (most of which are accredited by CNRS and INSERM), the Neurosciences and Cognition Doctoral School boasts a particularly rich, research-friendly environment focusing its research on normal brain functions, as well as disorders. The latter may result from brain damage (CVA, accidents, etc.), neurological disorders (epilepsy, chronic pain, etc.), neurodegenerative disorders (for example, Parkinson’s disease) and psychiatric disorders (for example, schizophrenia).
ED NSCo is one of the 17 doctoral schools of the Université de Lyon. It also benefits from the scientific resources and networks of the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and the Université Lumière Lyon 2 to which it is attached, as well as its partnership with the CORTEX LabEx (Laboratory of Excellence). This network allows the school to ensure the training of its PhD students in the very best conditions.
