“The primate cortex receives dense recurrent cortical input together with numerically sparse subcortical
projections that can influence sensory processing and cortical state. This thesis examines how directed-weighted
cortical connectivity, subcortical projection patterns and cellular composition are organized
across the macaque cortex, from cortex-wide gradients to retinotopic specialization within visual areas.”
